Understand Blackjack StrategyIf you are a blackjack player or have knowledge of the game you have probably heard the term blackjack strategy. This means finding the best strategy for each hand dealt to improve your chances of winning. Basic strategy in blackjack is able to be learned and applied to the game fairly easily. In blackjack there are a limited number of possible hands and limited number of possible dealer up cards in play. Players in the past years have used computers to generate the possible combinations of hands that can be played and determined the odds on each. Their are strategy charts to help aid in the learning process of blackjack strategy. No matter how or where you learn a strategy is is important to follow it, and not deviate based on personal feelings. If you want to increase your odds of winning, you will want to learn basic blackjack strategy. This will help you make sound decisions based on numbers rather than a feeling, or guess. Hard Hands StrategyWhen playing blackjack you may hear the term hard hands. This is basicly defined as any hand that does not have an ace, or in which the ace must be counted as a 1 for fear of busting. If you are holding anything below an eight, you will always want to hit. If you are holding a hand of 17 or above you will want to stand. There are strategies for the other possible hands you may receive and we will get into those later. Soft Hands StrategyAnother term you may hear when playing blackjack is soft hands. A soft hand is a combination that includes an ace. It is called a soft hand because the ace can stand for on of two values, either a one or 11. This value gives you more options in playing, and you almost never bust with a soft hand. If you are holding a soft 17 or lower you will probably want to hit, and if you have a soft 18 or higher stay. There are only a few more combinations to consider in this classification and we will get into those later. Counting CardsIf you are stepping into the more advanced level of blackjack you may look at the option of counting cards. This is a skill best learned only after mastering the basic strategy of blackjack. Counting cards allows a player to keep track of what has been played in order to make a better guess about what may be dealt. The player tries to keep a running count of which high cards and low cards have been played. These numbers are then used to determine the odds for the player and what is to his advantage and disadvantage
