In the game of blackjack there are many card counting systems. The purpose of counting cards is to increase the odds in the favor of the player, while this increase is very small it is none the less an edge that can benefit the player based on his skill. Blackjack card counting works by keeping track of the cards that have been played, and the cards which are still in the deck. A deck that has a large amount of high cards to low cards is good for the player, while a deck that has a larger amount of low to high cards benefits the dealer.

There are many different card counting systems in the game of blackjack. Some are basic counting systems and others are more advanced. It does not take a genius to learn to count cards, it just takes practice and memorization. Take the time to learn about the different card counting systems and find one that will work for you. It is best to start counting cards by learning one of the more basic systems, then move to a more advance system as your skills increase.

Card counting systems fall into two categories balanced and unbalanced counting systems. Card counting systems assign a value to each card in the deck. A balanced card counting system has all the cards in a deck adding up to 0. The count will change from a running count to a true count with multiple decks With an unbalanced card counting system the number of decks being used are taken into account, and the point count will not add up to 0.

Which Card Counting System to Choose

With so many card counting systems to choose from, how do you decide which one is best? Assess your skills and level of playing experience. Where you may play might also influence your decision. If you are new to the game with no experience try starting with one of the basic systems. Then after mastering that strategy move to one of the more advanced level strategies. It takes alot of time and practice to improve your skills, so be sure you are ready before jumping into a live game using your strategy.

Once you have decide you want to improve your blackjack game, you will probably choose a system to help you do that. Find the system that will work best for you and your skill level and get started. If you are an entry level player a basic system is the best option, then advanced to other strategies in time. There are many blackjack strategy charts available that can help you know what to do. Find the charts that match what you are trying to learn and study them. then begin to practice. It will take alot of practice to develop good skills, you might even want to keep a sheet or guide in front of you will you are practicing. You will want to be able to make choices accurately and quickly. Try to learn as much as possible about the system you are using. Then follow it exactly, even if you have some ups and downs follow the system. Part of playing is developing a discipline and taking the emotions out of the equation. When you feel you are proficient try a real game and test your skills. If you are comfortable with your performance then use it, if not practice until it does work.
